Getting to Bedarra Island
Bedarra Island is located on the Great Barrier Reef, off the coast of Mission Beach half way between Townsville and Cairns, which both have airports. Bedarra Island provides a more secluded alternative to other Queensland island accommodation.
By Helicopter or limousine
Helicopters leave Cairns International Airport and mariner and fly over the Great Barrier Reef and the stunning tropical north Queensland coast arriving on Bedarra Island 45 minutes later.
Limousines (from $330 one way) will take you the two hour scenic drive to Mission Beach in luxury. From here you catch a water Taxi to your accommodation on Bedarra Island.
By Car
You can pick up a rental car upon arriving at Cairns International Airport or Townsville and enjoy the scenic 2 hour drive to the picturesque coastal town of Mission Beach. From here you will meet your private water taxi that will deliver you to your accommodation on Bedarra Island.
We recommend Sugarland car rentals that operate from both Cairns & Mission Beach or any of the other major service providers located at the airport.
Water taxi
Once you arrive in Mission Beach by car or limousine, a water taxi will transfer you 4km across the beautiful Coral Sea to Bedarra Island.
There are two transfer options for you to choose from:
- The Mission Beach Water Taxi departs from Wongaling Beach to Bedarra Island. The fare for 1- 4 people is $500 return.
- Mission Beach Charters depart from Clump Point boat ramp to Bedarra Island. The fare for two people is $380 return.
You can pay your chosen transfer company directly by credit card or cash on the day of your transfer
Both are professional services and you will be safe and comfortable with whichever one you choose. Bedarra Hideaway is not responsible for any price changes or cancelations of transportation. This is the responsibility of the transport companies.
We look forward to welcoming you to beautiful Bedarra Island.
